WHY HIGH SPEED RAIL IS NOT ADEQUATE

When questioning the Operation and Management costs of High Speed Rail to Maglev technically the following is a response by a Maglev Consultant:-

“The studies I’ve seen have consistently shown that operating a high-speed maglev at speeds of at least 250 mph in corridors around the USA can be done such that the system recovers its full operating costs and even generates surplus revenues.  For example, the Baltimore-Washington maglev project predicted operating and maintenance costs of $52.5 million (in 2002 dollars) and system revenues of $184 million for the year 2010, with surpluses growing over time.  Any revenue surplus is to be used to finance a portion of the construction cost; according to the latest DEIS document I’ve seen.

So my answer to your question would be ‘such an operation has been predicted to be profitable.”

To bring into account further scientific details, it would be important then to review the difference between existing maglev and evacuated tube maglev transportation.

One cannot refute the logical and rational advantages of evacuated tube maglev after reviewing this data. The obvious increase in efficiency between these two technologies (Maglev and evacuated tube Maglev) is what has been clearly understood by NASA with regard to outer space for vehicles for many years.
